Of the 58 head coaches behind the bench at the CCAA National Hockey Championships from 1975 through 2001, four guided Canada at the Winter Olympics or the Winter Paralympics.
Perry Pearn, who coached the NAIT Ooks to the top of the podium at the 1982, 1985, 1986, 1989 and 1990 CCAA National Hockey Championships, was an assistant coach with the 2018 Women's Olympic Team.
Ken Babey, who guided the SAIT Trojans to a national title in 2000, was head coach of the 2018 & 2022 Men's Paralympic Teams.
In addition to the pair of CCAA Coaching Award of Excellence recipients, two CCAA Tournament Most Valuable Players took the ice at the Winter Olympics. Serge Roy donned a Canadian jersey in 1988 and Matt Kabayama donned a Japanese jersey in 1998.
