THE FIRST AND ONLY

Clement Jodoin became the first and only coach to guide hockey teams from the CCAA and CIAU (now U-Sports) to national championships thirty years ago.

The native of St-Césaire, Quebec began his coaching odyssey behind the bench of a Midget 'AA' team in St-Hyacinthe after playing with the Concordia Stingers in the CIAU. The St-Hyacinthe Lauréats, with Jodoin behind the bench, became the second team in CCAA history to win back-to-back national titles with gold medal performances in 1983 & 1984. He then moved onto the UQTR Patriotes and guided them to a CIAU national championship in 1987.

Jodoin also played and coached in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The former forward with the Rosemont National was behind the bench of the Halifax Mooseheads, Lewiston MAINEiacs and Rimouski Oceanic.

The 2007 Brian Kilrea Coach of Year Award recipient brought home gold from the World Junior Hockey Championships on three occasions as an assistant coach with Team Canada from 2006 through 2008.

Currently, the 65 year old is in his second tour of duty with the Montreal Canadiens and is an assistant coach with the club. The 2014 recipient of Hockey Canada's Gordon Juckes Award was previously an assistant coach with the Quebec Nordiques and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
