HOCKEY SHUTOUT OF 2016 CCAA HALL OF FAME CLASS

Ten Ontario builders, coaches and athletes were inducted into the CCAA Hall of Fame on June 7th. There were no hockey related inductees in the 2016 class.

Five inductees from the first two classes were college hockey coaches. Dr. Carl "Bucky" Buchanan guided the Capers from the College of Cape Breton and the University College of Cape Breton to 12 conference titles and a national championship. Jack Costello led the St. Clair College Saints to four conference championships including three consecutively. Mal Stelck and Dr. Don Stouffer coached the Selkirk College Saints and the Mount Royal College Cougars respectively to one conference title. Dr. Wayne Halliwell, who is a former head coach of the Dawson College Blues, also received the call to the Hall.

Ten former hockey coaches from four provinces are currently eligible for induction in the coach category including four from Alberta (Scott Atkinson, Allan Ferchuk, Bob Moore, and Perry Pearn), four from Ontario (Doug Bonhomme, Nick Harbaruk, Jerry Serviss, and Dana Shutt), one from British Columbia (Terry Bangen), and one from Quebec (Gerard Gagnon).
