NAIT Wins A Record 15th ACAC Championship

For the second time in three seasons and a record 15th time in ACAC history, the NAIT Ooks claimed the ACAC championship and the Bill Henry Jr. Memorial Trophy with a best of three series sweep over the SAIT Trojans.

On Friday, March 20th at the NAIT Arena in Edmonton, Michael Piluso's second goal of the game with 6:41 gone in the first overtime vaulted the NAIT Ooks to a 4-3 victory over the SAIT Trojans. Jordan Wood also pocketed a pair for the Ooks.

On Saturday, March 21st at the SAIT Arena in Calgary, Michael Piluso scored two goals and added two assists as the Ooks downed the Trojans 6-2.

The only two teams to play all 50 seasons of men's hockey met 16 times previously in the post season with the Trojans winning nine series including the 2013-14 finals which gave SAIT their seventh triumph in 11 post season finale match ups against NAIT.

This past season, the Ooks won three of four games over the Trojans.

NAIT and SAIT also faced one another in the post season finale in 2012-13 and 2013-14. The only other time when two teams have appeared in the final series in three consecutive seasons occurred when NAIT and Red Deer met in 1982-83, 1983-84, & 1984-85.
