Griffins Down Dinos In Four To Become ACAC Champs

The  MacEwan Griffins have won their first ACAC women's hockey title.

On Friday, February 29th at Calgary, Kristin Sugiyama blocked 23 shots as the Griffins blanked the Dinos 3-0. Jillian Barber, Lauren Chiswell, & Melody Howard tallied for MacEwan who gained a 1-0 lead in the second before adding a pair in the third.

On Saturday, March 1st at St. Albert, Kim Maier's unassisted tally at the 1:33 mark of the third gave the University of Calgary a 2-1 win over  MacEwan. Caitlin O'Hara scored for the Dinos in the first and Lauren Chiswell countered for the Griffins in the second.

On Friday, March 7th at Calgary, Lauren Chiswell's powerplay marker with 6:53 left in the third gave the Griffins a 2-1 victory over the Dinos. U of C's Leanne Legere and MacEwan's Melody Howard exchanged first period tallies.

On Saturday, March 8th at St. Albert, Jillian Barber pocketed a pair of goals including the winner on the powerplay with 3:38 remaining in regulation as MacEwan downed the University of Calgary 3-1. Lauren Chiswell of the Griffins and Alana McEvoy of the Dinos rounded out the scoring.  The two teams were deadlocked at 0-0 after the first and 1-1 following the second.

Griffins Edge Cougars To Move On

On Friday, February 22nd at Calgary, Sharina Filion netted the winner with 8:23 gone in the extra period to lift the Mount Royal College Cougars to a 3-2 win over the MacEwan Griffins.

On Saturday, February 23rd at  St. Albert, the Griffins scored three goals in the first 12 minutes of the first period en route to a 3-1 victory over the Cougars.

On Sunday, February 25th at Calgary, the Griffins broke a 1-1 deadlock with second period goals from Leanna Kordyban and Melody Howard en route to a 3-2 triumph over the Cougars.

Griffins Sweep Queens

On Thursday, February 14th at Red Deer, Leanna Kordyban netted the winner with 3:58 gone in the extra frame as the MacEwan Griffins topped the Red Deer College Queens 2-1.

On Saturday, February 16th at St. Albert, Leanna Kordyban tallied twice and added three assists for the Griffins as they rallied for a 5-1 come from behind win over the Queens.

Dinos Eliminate Trojans in Triple Overtime

On Friday, February 22nd at the SAIT Campus Centre in Calgary, Danielle Boyce broke a 1-1 deadlock at 12:42 of the third as the University of Calgary Dinos rallied for a 2-1 come from behind victory over the SAIT Trojans.

On Saturday, February 23rd at Calgary Centennial Areans, Jamie Teichman tallied 7:04 into the second overtime as the Trojans blanked the Dinos 1-0.

On Sunday, February 24th at the SAIT Campus Centre in Calgary, Leanne Legere's second goal of the game at 14:57 of the third overtime gave the Dinos a 5-4 victory over the Trojans.
