When the '70-71 Red Deer Rustlers are inducted in June, a pair of former NAIT coaches will be honored. Not only were Dale Henwood and Perry Pearn members of the first Centennial Cup champions, they also coached together at NAIT during the late '70's.

Henwood, who is currently president of the Canadian Sports Centre, served as head coach of the Ooks for two seasons beginning with the 1976-77 campaign. The 2007 inductee into the Alberta Hockey Hall of Fame also served as a coach with Canada's Olympic Hockey Team in 1984, 1988, and 1992.

Pearn, who is currently an assistant coach with the Montreal Canadiens, was an assistant coach at NAIT during Henwood's tenure and took over the reins of the Ooks in the 1978-79 campaign. During his tenure, the Stettler native guided the Ooks to six CCAA national championships. He has also been inducted into the Edmonton Sports Hall of Fame and the NAIT Athletics Wall of Fame.
