Former Red Deer College Kings coach Allan Ferchuk received the City of Red Deer's Lifetime Sport Achievement Award at the 2009 Red Deer Community Sports Awards Banquet.

The former RDC athletic director has been involved in ACAC hockey since 1973 as a coach, mentor, and sport convenor. The former CCAA president also chaired the research committee for Hockey Canada in addition to writing hockey manuals and studying hockey in Russia.

This past season, Ferchuk mentored the hockey coaches of the Red Deer College Queens.
